MARCH 30, 2008.

No longer a real estate agent, simply a person following the credo of philosopher Thoreau, who wrote:

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
Live the life you’ve imagined”

That direction is west and I will be venturing as far west as I can on the mainland. My destination is a strip of land, 80 km in length, optimistically named the Sunshine Coast due to the additional hours of sunshine over its southerly neighbour, Vancouver. Ah well, everything is relative.

I have secured a berth at a marina in Madeira Park in the Pender Harbour area and am in search of a vessel to fill it.

On April 1st 2008 I, along with my (hopefully) trusty 1999 Acura 3.2 TL, currently showing 222,444 kilometres, will head north to Sudbury then turn left.

As for “living the life I’ve imagined”, well, that’s what this web site is all about.

“The road goes ever on and on,

Downsizing:

Prior to departure I had, of course, to sell, donate or give away most of my possessions. If it doesn’t fit in the car it won’t fit in the boat. I did cheat a little and with the helpful folks at the Greyhound Bus Terminal, I gave them two 18 x 18 x 18 boxes, and at a small cost of $75 shipped them to Vancouver. These contained books and clothes, the books going to my good friends Russ & Wendy Wilson who will be my hosts until I find that boat of mine.

The clothes will be thrown out a year from now, when I finally fully realize that Aquascutum jackets, Daks 100% wool pants and Boss shirts have absolutely no place in my new world.
